With SpaceX, NASA, and ULA booking launch pads at Kennedy Space Center nearly every week, seeing a rocket launch while you’re staying at Ocean Grove RV Resort is very likely. Better yet, take a less than two-hour road trip to the Space Coast and get a front row seat! There’s plenty to see, do, and taste along the way. Here are a few of our favorite ways to embrace the infinite possibilities of the Space Coast.
Journey Through Space and Time
There is a galaxy of ways to explore the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, so arrive early and plan to stay the whole day. Save time by selecting the artifacts you want to see and planning your route ahead of time. Also, be prepared to spend time outside in the Florida sun as you walk between the air conditioned exhibits. And just like the other Florida theme parks, certain times of year are busier than others, like summer break and school holidays. Pack your patience if you’re visiting during the high season and prepare for an experience that’s out of this world!
Bonus attraction: The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex sometimes offers special viewing options for major rocket launches. Check the schedule for upcoming attempts.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars
Experience the magic of bioluminescence from your very own glass-bottomed kayak. It’s especially breath-taking in summer when the dinoflagellates (plankton) light up a bright iridescent blue. The best time to see them is June – October, but bioluminescent Comb Jellies are present in the colder months and make for a great experience, as well. BK Adventure leads clear bottom kayaking tours nightly that launch from the coast near the Canaveral National Seashore.
Out-of-This-World Confections
Craving something unique, like chocolate covered potato chips? Then visit Grimaldi Candies, a Rockledge institution famous for delicious, unique and exotic confections. This premier chocolate manufacturer has been producing high-quality milk and dark chocolate for over 45 years. Be brave and try unusual candy flavors like Ghost Pepper Caramels and Key Lime Truffles, or play it safe and have one of everything!
The Infinite Wonders of Surfing
Founder Ron DiMenna opened his “One-of-a-Kind” Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach in 1963. Today, the flagship store is the largest surf shop in the world, spanning more than two acres and stocked floor-to-ceiling with everything you could possibly need to enjoy Cocoa Beach’s famed waves. Rent a board, bike, or chairs next door at their Watersports store and play like a pro or a beach like a bum. With this much inventory, the choice is definitely yours.
Ocean Grove RV Resort is the perfect place to experience the best of Florida’s Atlantic coast. With so much to see and do, you might need to consider adding a few extra nights to your stay.
